(BlackPressRadio.net) – A veteran sports reporter and founder of the nation’s first Black-owned, woman-led sports network was racially profiled at Dodgers Stadium as she attempted to support the team.
“I went from being excited about my first experience at Dodgers Stadium to fearing for my safety in a matter of minutes,” said DC Livers, Founder and CEO of TBSN: The Black Sportz Network. “Baseball was my first love but after what happened at Dodgers Stadium, I’m not sure if I’ll ever feel safe again attending a baseball game. It was traumatic,” Livers said.
The racial profiling incident happened on October 6, 2021 as the Dodgers took on the Saint Louis Cardinals in a fight to make the 2021 MLB playoffs. The Dodgers won the game and entered the NDLS playoffs.
“I haven’t been able to sleep well. I can’t bring myself to watch the NDLS playoffs which is really hard because I love baseball. Like every other baseball fan, October is one of the greatest months of the year because of the MLB Playoffs. It also really upsetting because I’m a sports writer so not watching such an important game has professional ramifications but every time I see the Dodgers logo now I flashback to October 6. It’s like I have to keep reliving it,” she said.
