(BlackPressRadio.net) – In an effort to bring awareness to the launch of TBSN: The Black Sportz Network, DC Livers has announced BLACKTOBER, a month long celebration to honor the work of Black men in hip hop.
“I was so tired of writing the obituaries of rappers and hip hop stars like DMX, Black Robb and Biz Markie so I wanted to take a moment to show respects to Black men in hip hop,” said Livers a serial technology entrepreneur who founded TBSN during the Global Pandemic. TBSN was made official at the 2021 NBA Finals during Game 5 in Phoenix, AZ. “While we still have these men who contributed so much to The Culture, I had to do this because younger generations don’t always know the history of hip hop. It was important to TBSN – which merges hip hop and sports – to do this because in the lockerooms of the sports I cover I hear the music but it never seems to reach the kids. I wanted to make sure that it did,” said Livers.
Buggin’ Out Weekend will take place in Los Angeles, CA on October 1-4, 2021 by paying tributes to other Black athletes including Dodgers star MookieBetts, witnessing LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, Carmelo Anthony and others as the Lakers take on The Brooklyn Nets as well as football games including a Monday Night Football game with the Chargers vs. Raiders.
For over thirty years Tarek (Terk) Stevens has been a committed entertainment industry professional. Stevens began his career as a member of the Hip Hop/R&B group “Whistle.” Whistle is the first rap group in Hip-Hop to go from rappers to R&B singers. With his company Terk Entertainment Group, he’s been successful in fostering partnerships that span the globe. He coproduced BET Africa’s first television series “Top Actor,” a competitive reality show for actors. His company creates, develops, and distributes content for the African American and trans-Atlantic African Diaspora.
Stevens recently created and coproduced the Inaugural Gospel Celebration during the 2021 Biden-Harris Inauguration and produced Angrily Ever After, T’was The Chaos Before Christmas, The Christmas Lottery and soon to be released Big Fifty, The Delrhonda Hood Story along with Octet Productions. He is currently in development with executive producer Morris Chestnut and MegaMind Media with Greenwood Avenue to produce a movie about Black Wall Street. He is the co-creator of the Influencers Brunch during the Oscars Weekend with Ron “Tricky” Montgomery and Donald Woodard. Terk recently entered the world of professional sport’s under a minority investment group with the Washington Spirit of the National Women’s Soccer League.
